Cloud Code helps you write, deploy, and debug cloud native, Kubernetes, Cloud Run, and App Engine applications quickly and easily, and adds support for many Google Cloud. Late last year, JetBrains released a new version of their PyCharm IDE - the Educational Edition. This version has an integrated Python console, Debugger.

• As a reminder, teachers, instructors and course authors can also use PyCharm Educational Educational Edition to create their own courses and share them with their students or with thousands users of PyCharm Educational Edition all around the globe.
• Educational licenses cannot be used for commercial purposes. • This plugin brings educational functionality to PyCharm similar to what we have in PyCharm Edu. If you haven’t checked this tool out, learn how it helps novice programmers with little or no previous programming experience to learn programming with Python easily and effectively.

A couple of months ago we announced the first version of PyCharm Educational Edition. Thousands of downloads and heaps of valuable feedback have poured in since then. We did our best to use this input and insight to improve the tool.

The most notable improvement in v1.0.1 is the Introduction to Python learning course, which is available out of the box right after you install the tool:

It’s pretty simple to go through the default learning course in PyCharm—just follow this tutorial or watch this short demo. Anyway, we’ve enhanced this introduction course to make it much more intelligent and provide many new smart interactive checks, hints and suggestions, and better task descriptions and texts:

Another useful improvement in PyCharm Educational Edition 1.0.1 is that now you can always interrupt the task check. This is useful if your code hangs for some reason. For example here is a solution that results in an infinite loop and hangs the task check:

Simply click the Cancel icon and try solving the task again:

When jumping between answer placeholders, now it’s possible to edit them right from the cursor position (whereas previously the whole placeholder would get selected):

If an error occurs while solving a task, now you can navigate to the place in the code where the error is found:

There are many other minor improvements in this release, so we encourage you to download and try it yourself! Unfortunately there will be no patch update from previous PyCharm Educational Edition v1.0 so please re-install PyCharm manually.

JetBrains has launched an educational edition of PyCharm which does more than act as an editor and development environment. It bundles interactive online lessons that introduce new users to Python to the language and to the IDE's tools at the same time.

The PyCharm IDE was already available in a free Community Edition that could be used in education, so why do we now have another version?

The answer is that, rather than being a cut down version, the new PyCharm Educational Edition has extra features to meet the needs of both learners and educators. For learners it has everything you need to get started - both Python and an interactive programming course to get you started using it.

For teachers it provides the ability to create an interactive couse using a Course Creation Wizard. This can either be added to the JetBrain's PyCharm public repository - where it adds to the list of resources available to all PyCharm users - or shared privately with a class.

To make it all the more accessible, there's a Getting Started video in which Hadi Hariri guides beginners through its teaching facilities:

PyCharm Educational Edition will get newcomers started but it doesn't stop that that point. It has the same tools that professional developers use, although advanced ones are hidden by default as part of its simplified interface to make the learning curve as easy as possible. The post announcing it quotes Guido van Rossum, Python's creator, who said:

“We believe that there should be no clear-cut distinction between tools used by professionals and tools used for education—just as professional writers use the same language and alphabet as their readers!”

Pycharm Educational Vs Community

JetBrain's decision to create this educational resource is a response to Python currently being the most popular language for teaching Computer Science - a trend that it will reinforce by making it possible to take and make Python courses.
